Self-Applied Massage

Calm your nerves with your own hands-anytime, anywhere.

Self-Applied Massage

Objective

To help individuals release physical and emotional tension through guided self-touch, promoting calm, presence, and stress relief-especially in moments of uncertainty or chronic stress.

Problem Statement

Chronic stress-often triggered by prolonged uncertainty-manifests physically through muscle tension and restlessness. This state can become constant, leaving individuals feeling stuck in high alert and unable to relax.

Solution Provided

Self-Applied Massage offers a self-regulation technique that uses your own hands to soothe the nervous system. Through guided audio, users are led through simple movements and gentle touch to release tension and reconnect with a sense of inner calm. It’s accessible anytime and anywhere-no special tools required.

The Science

  • Somatic regulation:
Physical touch stimulates pressure receptors and helps shift the nervous system into a parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) state.
  • Polyvagal theory:
Gentle touch near the face, neck, and hands can help activate the vagus nerve, calming the body.

  • Self-soothing behavior:
Touch is a natural, evolutionarily wired way to regulate emotional discomfort.

  • Studies show even brief massage can reduce cortisol (stress hormone) and increase serotonin and dopamine levels, improving mood and reducing anxiety.
