Intermittent Breathing

Steady your breath, settle your nerves.

Intermittent Breathing

Objective

To reduce physical symptoms of nervousness-like the “butterflies” in your stomach-by using a calming, rhythmic breathing pattern.

Problem Statement

Nervousness often triggers a fluttery, uneasy sensation in the body, especially in the stomach, which can be distracting and uncomfortable.

Solution Provided

“Intermittent Breathing” helps regulate your body’s stress response through a slow, controlled breath cycle that calms the nervous system and eases physical tension.

The Science

Breath regulation influences the autonomic nervous system. Slow, patterned breathing helps activate the parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) response, reducing symptoms like stomach discomfort, shallow breathing, and a racing heart-common signs of nervousness.

Time Commitment

3–5 minutes.

Facilitation Level

No facilitation.
